On Sunday the 13th of February, 2011 we moved to Turkey Bend Recreational Area, owned and run by LCRA.
The move was not without a minor hitch our friend Danny Brazier and his wife Diane offered to move our Travel Trailer for us thus saving us time and effort and we would pull the 5th wheel Cameo.
When we came to hitch up the Travel Trailer we found that we had no power to the plug. By this time it seemed that the whole park had turned out to bide us farewell, with everyone falling over each other and all wanting to assist.
The problem was solved by Colby our friend from across the road with prodding and scraping all of a sudden power came on and we set off.
The county roads out of Austin became winder and narrower and higher in elevation than what we remembered. When we came to the last mile and after taking a left bend we hit a problem and lost momentum, I prayed and hoped that the transmission would hold out and placed the gear into 1st gear, thankfully we made it and the engine oil and transmission fluid were both hot, I hope no permanent damage has been done.
The remaining days have been spent in training with our immediate supervisor Jim and getting settled into our new pad.
We have a nice concrete pad, with 50amp electricity, water and sewer connection, a secluded outside patio area with picnic table, 2 BBQ areas and a stand for lights and whatever.
Our Travel Trailer has it’s own concrete pad with all of the above amenities as well.
On Wednesday we sallied forth into Marble Falls and discovered it to be 18miles from Turkey Bend, this will be our closest shopping area, so we are cut off from any other shopping and we will need to plan all of our shopping needs. Marble Falls is a nice sized town with all the shopping that we need and we discovered a good hairdresser and that is a big plus these are very hard to find in Texas.
