The last day of March 2010 we decided to go ahead and purchase a 22 ft Travel Trailer for days off and the weekend or whatever and whenever we want to get away. The best day to purchase is the last day of any month as most sales operations want that extra item to go over quota or to meet quota.

The last day of March 2010 we decided to go ahead and purchase a 22 ft Travel Trailer for days off and the weekend or whatever and whenever we want to get away. The best day to purchase is the last day of any month as most sales operations want that extra item to go over quota or to meet quota.
We’d already been in the sales place on several occasions so we knew who to see and what we wanted to buy, the final hour of business and the last day.
We got what we wanted at the price plus a few extras as well thrown in as a final, gotcha.
We purchased a North Trail 22 ft made by Heartland. We particularly liked the floor plan as it has a walk around Queen bed, plus one slide. In the length that we wanted to stay within it was difficult to find this in the floor plans available. We could have purchased another one with a similar floor plan and 4 thousand dollars cheaper but the workmanship and overall finish was very poor and we’d be forever not happy with it, so we went for the best we could find despite the fact that it stretched the budget.
As we were starting five days working we would not be available to take delivery for 12 days so acceptance of possession was scheduled for the 12th of April.
When we arrived to take delivery we were told much to our horror that they completely dropped the ball and forgotten to get it prepared for us.
We were given an American Express card and told to go and have lunch and it would be ready by 2pm.
After we returned it was still not ready and we finally left for our first few days away at 4.45pm, we’d arrived at 11am.
Not only did they provide us with a free lunch I also received a bottle of Single Malt whiskey.
Our first few days was spent at McKinney Falls State Forest. Everything went very well and we enjoyed our maiden voyage.
A few things that we discovered was that the bed was firm, very firm and we needed to add a few creature comforts to make everything that little bit better.
We purchased a 4inch Memory Foam mattress topper, to solve the firm bed and several extras to make life nicer.
Our new RV will be totally self contained so that when we want to get away all we will have to do is hitch up and go.
Our next jaunt away will be on the 10th of May, where we will go, i don’t know but we’ll let you all know. Until then keep safe, dry and warm.
