It’s wonderful to be bathed in music from the moment we awaken until going asleep. As we walk towards the kitchen we pass several practice cabins, which contain a electronic piano and here the singers practice on there own and sometimes with a teacher, although the majority of coaching is done in the 6 large practice rooms. The walk is wonderful as different people are singing different songs or warming up the vocal throat.

We spent the initial 3 weeks cleaning and then more cleaning all of the cottages and dormitories. When a place in the country gets left unoccupied for 10 months of the year, nature and creatures take over. We never saw any snakes although did see one bat and evidence of several bats being around.
Now the singers have arrived the place is fully occupied, the only ones to arrive will be the orchestra and they arrive on the 12th June, at that point we will have 40 singers, 28 administrative staff and 25 orchestra members, we are included within the administrative staff.

We work generally in the kitchen assisting Larry and Sue and also taking over the kitchen for two days when they have 2 days off.
The singers are on a roster to assist with cleaning up after each meal and they often break into song when they are washing or cleaning the area, it’s truly wonderful being entertained and the singing is extraordinary as well as beautiful, it wants me to start singing, but I stop myself, I know my limitations.
The two people in overall charge of the Opera in the Ozarks are so very supportive and great to work with. The other 3 couples are fantastic and so supportive, this is a far different atmosphere than at the RV Park in Victoria, gee we were both pleased when we left, although very sad to leave many friends that were permanent RV’ers they made our life bearable within a unfriendly working atmosphere.
