The drive to Corpus Christi was very pleasant although I do drive far more sedately than all other drivers, Texans do tend to speed. They drive almost over the posted speed limit and never under or on it. I like to drive 5 mph under the posted speed limit, hence I do get in other drivers way. One car that overtook us on Highway 59 got pulled over by the Sherrif and he was really zooming along.
Our journey took us over Akanasas Pass and over a small part of the sea by ferry, amazingly it was FREE, can you believe it a free ferry.
Corpus Christi is a beautiful city very clean and modern, it’s situated on the gulf and most of the sea edge is built with a wall, except in the centre part and it has a nice beach, which Sammy thought was just great. He went in and out several times, oh how he loves the water.
The dance was nice and the caller was far better than what I had been told, so that was a bonus.
The motel a Motel 6 was far past it’s prime and I picked it because it seemed to be the closest to the dance place and far from clean and they did allow Sammy without any extra fee, some hotels charge $15 or $25 per dog and many stipulate under 25 lbs.
We drove around Corpus Christi and they have a large area several blocks of old historic houses, most interesting.
The battleship Lexington the last of the Essex class is available for tour and it does not look that large until you see how many airplanes on the deck and then that puts it into perspective, it’s a fair size.
On the way back we took the scenic long way round and called into a town call Goliad, which is a nice american town with a cute town centre and courthouse. It has a interesting bell tower and the music that comes out on the hour is very entertaining.
Well that is all for now.
