We finally got the pin extension installed on Tuesday so we were able to leave Rainbow’s end Wednesday morning — just one day later than planned. After a quick stop at Joel West’s to pay our bill we were almost on our way. The tires on the RV were VERY old so we replaced them on our way through Livingston.

It wasn’t long till Robert began to get the feel of driving with that big rig behind us. The only place on the trip that was a bit uncomfortable was one stretch in the heart of Houston. During that part of the trip traffic increased and the lanes got narrow. Not a good combination especially for a first trip.

A late start, a couple stops and driving slowly resulted in a fairly late arrival in Victoria, Texas. We finally met Eric and Tania, the owners and they help us get settled in our new location. We had expected a pull through site but none was available. The back-in site we are on was very tight and difficult to navigate. The awning and side got damaged by a tree, only a scratch but it could have been avoided with directions. We needed both the slider bars and the new extension to make it. The good news is that we now know that we can make even the tightest turns with the slider out.

Spaces here seem much smaller than at Rainbow’s end and I’m disappointed in the size of the room that can be used for dancing. Other than that, it is a very nice, very well maintained park and Eric and Tania couldn’t be nicer.

We started training yesterday and there is a lot to learn but certainly not anything overwhelming. I know I will be very nervous the first time I take a reservation and have to make the decision of whether or not we have space and where to assign them.
